2.Tunstall Town's Councillor & MP
Councillor Tabrase Din: A Hands-On Champion for the Community
Since being elected, Councillor Tabrase Din has quickly become a familiar and friendly face around the town. He has shown a real commitment to supporting local residents and working alongside community groups to help make the area an even better place to live.
Tabrase is an active advisor to both the Tunstall Town Centre Community Association (TTCCA) and Tunstall Together C.I.C., where he works closely with local volunteers and organisations that are dedicated to improving the town centre and bringing people together.
But you won’t just find him in meetings! Councillor Din is known for rolling up his sleeves and getting involved. From joining community clean-up days with TS Domestics to supporting local groups with donations towards community events, he’s always keen to lend a hand where it’s needed.
He’s also happy to make himself available to residents. When asked if he would take part in a three-weekly drop-in surgery alongside local PCSOs, he immediately agreed, giving people the chance to raise concerns and chat about issues affecting their neighbourhood.
Since his election, Tabrase has been proactive in tackling everyday issues that matter to residents, regularly reporting potholes in his ward and working to ensure grit bins are placed on streets where they’re most needed. Advocating for more cameras, and helped to try and retain Lloyds back from leaving the Town.
Friendly, approachable, to the point and easy to contact, Councillor Din continues to show that being a councillor is about being present in the community and listening to the people he represents.
He is also a local Taxi driver, family man and fellow Tunstall resident.

Bite Back Against Loan Sharks
No Shame. No Fear. Stop Loan Sharks Here!
Loan sharks operate in the shadows of the financial world, filling gaps left by traditional banking systems but at a steep and often devastating financial cost. They offer quick, easy, accessible cash to people who may be excluded from formal credit, for example those with poor credit histories, unstable incomes, or urgent financial needs. On the surface, this can look like a lifeline an answer to your problems but in reality, it is often the beginning of a dangerous cycle that is extremely difficult to escape.
Unlike regulated lenders, loan sharks impose exorbitant interest rates with no clear guidelines. Borrowers may not even know the true terms of their loan at the outset. What begins as a small sum borrowed can rapidly balloon into an unmanageable debt, with interest at aggressive rates. Payments are often collected in cash, leaving no paper trail and little help for the borrower.
Protecting Our Community From Loan Sharks
One of the biggest issues with loan sharks is the imbalance of power. People who borrow from them are often already in a difficult situation, and instead of support, they may face pressure or intimidation when it comes time to repay. This can leave borrowers feeling stuck—not just financially, but emotionally too—creating a lot of stress that can spill over into family and daily life.
Loan sharks tend to appear where people don’t have easy access to fair and affordable credit. When options feel limited, turning to a loan shark lender can seem like the only choice. This points to a wider problem: not everyone has equal access to safe financial services, more options like credit unions, community lending, and better-regulated loans can make a real difference.
Tackling this issue isn’t just about cracking down on illegal lenders, it is also about helping people understand their choices and feel confident about managing their money. When people know the risks and have access to safer alternatives, they are less likely to fall into harmful situations.
At its core, loan sharking reflects deeper financial problems and struggles. Reducing its impact means creating a system where people are better supported and educated, with fair opportunities and resources that help them stay on stable ground.
If you have been affected by a loan shark, there are a number of charities and support organisations available to offer guidance, support, and practical advice. Seeking help can make a significant difference, and you are not alone in dealing with this situation.
